Science as Art
Thursday and Friday, 8 and 9 October
Alumni Hall, J.W. Connolly Ballroom, 1st Floor

Science as Art provides a platform to recognize the artistic element hidden within our scientific pursuits. The seemingly disparate fields of science and art converge to create a unique and thought-provoking display. As our minds endeavor to unravel the complexities of science, they must also draw back and perceive beauty if we’re to extract art from slides, 3D renderings, and other such media representative of both fields. This year’s theme is “fighting cancer.” The exhibit showcases the winning entries from a University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI) competition and includes a variety of works capturing intercellular battlefields as captivating visual pieces. Stop by to contemplate and enjoy the exhibit throughout Science 2015. The works will be on permanent display at UPCI’s Hillman Cancer Institute in the near future.

Closing Happy Hour

After three intense days of terrific science, it will be time to kick back and enjoy a little food, drink, and rock ’n roll.
